ZAF-2 Non-Silicone Anti-Foam is a clear, colorless liquid that is used to eliminate foaming in penetrant testing aqueous developer baths, water based magnetic particle baths, and hydrophilic remover baths.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

When developer or magnetic particle baths foam excessively, sprinkle a few drops of ZAF-2 around on the surface. If some foam persists, sprinkle a few more drops. ZAF-2 may be used up to a maximum concentration of 1% by weight. However, excessive amounts of anti-foam can reduce the wetting properties of a bath or cause particle agglomeration. Start adding ZAF-2 drop-by drop, adding just enough to do reduce or eliminate problematic foaming.

In recirculating baths, such as magnetic particle units, a fine lather occasionally builds up, which ZAF-2 cannot effectively handle. This condition is due to air being drawn into the return line and beaten into the bath by the pump. When this condition occurs, look for the air leak (either a vortex forming over the outflow pipe of the sump, or else a leak in the plumbing upstream from the pump) and correct it.
